When Fred Nigro, Michael Karlin, and Mickey Segal met at Michael’s apartment in 1981 and decided to join forces to start their own accounting firm, little did they know their “family-run” startup would grow to be the premier Business Management firm in the country, now spanning eight offices, seven in the United States and one in the United Kingdom.

On March 20, 2018, we joined the New York-based firm Focus Financial Partners and officially became NKSFB, LLC. So much has happened along the way. Please enjoy the timeline below, celebrating the most significant milestones along our path which continues…
1981
Nigro, Karlin & Segal (“the Firm”) is founded with 4 employees and 3 clients.
1990
The Firm leases 25,000 sq. ft. of office space in Century City, California. There are now 59 employees.
1993
Our New York City office opens, and the Firm expands its services across the United States. The Firm now exceeds 100 partners and staff.
2007
Rich Feldstein merges his practice, RHF Management, into the Firm. This greatly expands the Firm’s music client scope and Nigro Karlin Segal & Feldstein, LLP is formed.
2008
Partner David Bolno joins the Firm, adding his music and sports practices.
January 2014
David Bolno is added to the company’s masthead, and Nigro Karlin Segal Feldstein & Bolno is formed.
July 2014
The Firm merges with Press, Schonig, Rosenthal & Co., a 13-person boutique tax compliance firm located in Farmingdale, New York.
March 2018
Gudvi Oppenheim, formed 1977 as Bernard Gudvi & Co., merged into NKSFB.
March 2018
The Firm is acquired by Focus Financial Partners (NASDAQ: FOCS). At the time of acquisition, the Firm grew to include 30 partners and 300 staff. We are now NKSFB, LLC.
January 2019
David Weise & Associates (DWA), founded 1999, merged into NKSFB.
March 2019
Neuman + Associates, founded 1991, merged into NKSFB.
July 2020
CRM Management, founded 2002, merged into NKSFB.
October 2020
Howard Capital Management, founded in 1974, merged into NKSFB.
January 2022
Avery & Greig, founded 1986, merges into NKSFB.
February 2022
Richard Welling LLP, founded in 1988, merges into NKSFB.
July 2022
Ross Bennet Smith, founded 1983, merges into NKSFB.
