Our HistoryOur Beginning
Fred Nigro, Michael Karlin, and Mickey Segal met at Michael’s apartment in 1981 and decided to join forces to start their own accounting Firm. Little did they know their “family-run” startup would grow to be the premier Business Management Firm in the World, now spanning seven offices, six in the United States and one in the United Kingdom.
The Timeline
In 2018, we joined the New York-based firm Focus Financial Partners and
officially became NKSFB, LLC. Please enjoy the timeline below, celebrating the
most significant milestones along our continuing path.
1981
Nigro, Karlin & Segal (“the Firm”) is founded with 4 employees and 3 clients.
1990
The Firm leases 25,000 sq. ft. of office space in Century City, California. We’ve grown to 59 employees.
1993
We open our New York City office, and the Firm expands its services across the United States. The Firm now exceeds 100 Partners and staff.

2007
Rich Feldstein merges his practice, RHF Management, into the Firm, and Nigro, Karlin, Segal & Feldstein LLP is formed. This greatly expands the Firm’s music client scope.
2008
David Bolno joins the Firm, adding his music and sports practices.

2014
January
David Bolno is added to the company’s masthead, and Nigro Karlin Segal Feldstein & Bolno LLP is formed.
July
The Firm merges with Press, Schonig, Rosenthal & Co., a 13-person boutique Tax Compliance Firm in Farmingdale, New York.
2018

Gudvi Oppenheim, formed in 1997 as Bernard Gudvi and Co., merges into NKSFB.

Focus Financial Partners (NASDAQ: FOCS) acquires the Firm, which grows to include 30 Partners and 300 staff at the time of acquisition. We are now NKSFB, LLC.
2019

January
David Weise & Associates (DWA), founded in 1999, merges into NKSFB.

March
Neuman + Associates, founded in 1991, merges into NKSFB.
2020

January
CRM Management, founded in 2002, merges into NKSFB.

October
Howard Capital Management, founded in 1974, merges into NKSFB.
2022

January
Avery & Greig, founded in 1986, merges into NKSFB.
February
We open up our Torrance office.

July
Ross Bennet Smith, founded in Great Britain in 1983, merges into NKSFB.
